Job Description

Position Summary
The individual in this role conducts important negotiations with vendors and service providers to put in place volume based company-wide standard pricing to be utilized by VWNA’s personnel as well as other personnel within VENAO. In addition, the management of negotiated contracts in regards to facilitating with the legal department during contract reviews and extensions, providing support to sites with vendor issues and working to develop tools necessary for sites to utilize these contracts lies with this individual. Individual also works with Global purchasing counterparts and ensures that feedback and product information is supplied related to North America. Ensuring that VWNA maintains the best possible pricing and service is a major responsibility for this person.

Primary Responsibilities/Job Duties
The person in this position will: perform national and global contract negotiations on assigned categories with vendors, facilitate contract reviews and updates with Legal Department and vendors, facilitate contract execution and communication to sites, collect and analyze spend/usage data for use in RFP/RFQ, administer RFP/RFQ processes and manage selection processes, participate on RFP/RFQ review & selection as part of VENAO and Veolia Environnement global procurements, complete Vendor reviews before entry into Peoplesoft, prepare reports related to commodity pricing expectations for use in budgeting process, facilitate cost savings initiatives through renegotiations and new contracts, report savings quarterly, facilitate dispute resolution between VWNA or VENAO projects and vendors and provide guidance to internal business customers relative to Sourcing / Purchasing capabilities, systems, processes and Policies & Procedures. Each Sourcing/Contracts manager will be specifically assigned a region or LLC to represent geographically and/or categories will be assigned based on individual skill sets. 

Education and Experience

Educational Background
Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, MBA or Finance Degree Preferred

Job Skills/Characteristics
Strong negotiation skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers; and ability to prepare commercial RFQ/RFP evaluations and provide recommendations. Demonstrates proficiency in thinking creatively, problem identification and resolution & project planning and implementation. Computer skills with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and some exposure to purchasing / inventory control system software preferred.  Strong effective communication with internal personnel as well as with vendors. Ability to set goals and adhere to dates for deliverables and an ability to work with teams toward common goals.

Experience/Knowledge
Product knowledge in the area of water & wastewater as well as general commodities. An understanding of economic factors as they relate to pricing. Over five years professional experience applying broad knowledge of principles and practices of purchasing or materials management.  Exposure to commercial contract management and sourcing strategy. 

Work Environment
Individual would work in an office environment with travel required.
